We take a collaborative approach in working with our clients. Practically this means that we rely on our clients’ understanding of themselves as we develop a picture of their unique challenges and goals for therapy. This informs our clinical interventions, which we tailor specifically to our clients’ needs.
We emphasize insight in our treatment, developing an awareness of how our clients’ experiences in life (i.e. childhood, traumas, past relationships, etc.) have shaped who they are today. This insight unlocks an ability to purposefully change aspects of ourselves as well as our environment, which ultimately can reduce one’s suffering in the present. In addition to insight oriented work, we draw on a number of interventions such as CBT, relaxation techniques, assertiveness training, mindfulness, distress tolerance and exposure based interventions.
